The #BeeYourBest UK Tour wrapped up earlier today with visits to Newcastle University and Northumbria University, engaging with faculty members and postgraduate students. It was great meeting Prof. Russell Davenport and the enthusiastic postgraduate students.
Prof. Beatrice’s presentation at Northumbria University focused on promoting green economies globally. Some key points highlighted included:
- Current challenges faced in implementing green economies
- The benefits of a green economy
- Success stories from leading countries adopting a green economy
- Roles academics and researchers can play
- Challenges and opportunities in implementing green economies in African nations
Africa’s healthy and creative young population is a strength that the world may leverage for innovation and job creation for sustainable development.
The tour was also a personal journey for Prof. Beatrice, who reunited with her cousin, Abbibat, and her husband, Adetayo, whom she hadn’t seen in over a decade. It was heartwarming to see how their family had grown and a good reminder of her roots. Such moments keep us grounded.
Exploring the city was a delightful experience. Prof. Beatrice enjoyed seeing the beach, hearing the Geordie accents in real-time, and visiting a museum where she saw a crown from the Egbas in Abeokuta, her home state capital.
Which country should we visit next? Let us know in the comments!
